Math Reflection

This year we use the program called Connected Math 2. This program was very different math program than others that I have had in the past. The names of the book that we have covered this year is Bits and Pieces 1 and 2, Covering and Surrounding, Shapes and Designs, Prime Time, and How likely is it?

Each book had different sections and the sections broke down into more and more things. At the end of a section there would be a reflection were we had to think back to what we learned in that section and answer questions base on that section. Most nights we had homework up to around 30 problems. The homework we had was either A.C.E. (Applications, Connections, and Extensions) or to finish up the lesson we were on.

Everything that we had for homework we had to put it in our notebooks. The notebook contained of five different parts which were the page for your “Assignments” which was where you wrote what we had for homework that night. Then there was “Class work” where we put the things that we completed in class for that day. Then came the “Homework” section were we had put all of our homework assignments that were completed. Next was “Assessments” this is where we would put all of our tests quizzes or anything that was graded. Finally “References” this was where we put things like lab sheets for later in the unit or section.

I liked the unit Bits and Pieces because I like learning about fractions, decimals, and percents. I like this learning about these things because they really interest me. I always liked fractions and percents because I like some challenges when I learn about things. I also like fractions and things like that because my dad is really good at it too and if I need help he always understood it.

In conclusion I had a lot of fun this year in math and I hope that it will be the same in middle school. Mrs. Wester was a really good math teacher throughout this year.
